Portland, OR based Guttstar (Güttstar) is by no means your traditional producer. Louie Armstrong once ushered the advice “learn everything there is, then throw it all away and just play.” In an age where electronic music has shed the stylistic shackles of it’s youth and all cultures have been made mutually tangible a sonic artist is emancipated to use all the world as their palette. Guttstar has done just that.
Artistic identity is without a doubt chiseled from the creative forces one has encountered. Starting with hip-hop, Guttstar was hooked on electronic beats from an early age. But it was once he went moved to Burlington, VT that he was exposed to the sheer energy of live music. The hyperactive rock and jazz scene of Burlington, VT was the epicenter of the jam band movement of the late nineties and the power of creative improvisation struck deep within Guttstar. Fusing the gridlocked world of electronic music with the emotion and unpredictability of live instrumentation seemed the natural challenge. Early pioneers like STS9 inspired Guttstar and within the live framework of Ableton he found the best medium to forge his new sound.
It was only time before he came across the growing electronic music scenes of the the west coast and the UK. The massive live appeal of Dubstep along with its versatile framework made it the perfect template for Guttstar to find ground in his own personal style and really bring forth a new sound that is deeply personal and excitingly accessible. The pure emotion of Bristol UK’s signature Purple resonated deep and is reflected in his soaring leads. The psychedelic bass lines of west coast Glitch Hop and the compelling, forward rhythmic thrust of Breaks come together to form a unique sound that represents a producer at the forefront of a scene that idolizes music that is both physically and mentally stimulating.
Since premiering his Ableton Live set of original material in January 2010, Guttstar has shared the stage with a variety of national acts including: Lotus, Big Gigantic, 12th Planet, Gladkill, Sugarpill, Minnesota, and Mux Mool.

Hailing from Vancouver, BC and now residing in San Francisco, CA, ill-esha burst onto the North American electronic scene as a soul vocalist featured on various releases for the likes of Breakbeat Science, Fokuz, and BluSaphir, gradually becoming known for the seamless incorporation of original vocals and MCing into DJ sets expressing her unique take on bass music. Her multi-dimensional approach spans glitch hop, dubstep and downtempo, creating a dynamic live show which has set ill-esha apart amidst some of electronic music’s most groundbreaking acts.

Hailing from the Pacific Rim, Jeremy Plumb finds his roots at the intersection of golden age hip hop culture and underground dance music. Originally from the SF bay, he’s been cutting his teeth in the NW underground for the last decade. A student of classical violin for 8 years, he’s now studying jazz/blues piano and minimalist neo classical work. Co-founder of the Portland Producers Meet Up, Plumblyne has been producing electronic music since 1995. Other music projects include; The High Planes Drifters (poetry), Coyote Beat (live duo) and Peripheral AV band (live 5 piece intermedia). He has a forthcoming release on Street Ritual Records and is currently working on an AV piece in collaboration with a slew of other performance artists.

CORY O———>

Portland-based producer/dj Cory O, began his career in 2007.  Right
out of the gate, he was rocking residencies in his hometown’s busiest
electronic clubs.  He quickly became recognized as one of the most
exciting multi-genre talents, enabling him to share the stage with
legendary dj/producers such as A-Trak, Skream, and Rusko.  In 2010,
Cory took a break from live perfomances in order to focus exclusively
on music production.

Cory O is back, hitting the dance floors with a unique style of
high-energy bass music, bringing a new emphasis on heavy hip-hop,
laser bass-style of glitch hop.  In slightly over a one year period,
he has released two EP’s with Prime Dub Records that have topped the
charts on Addictech and Beatport.  Be on the lookout for his next
album release due early 2012.
